It’s an honor to be a part of Pride in a state that has led the way towards true equality for the LGBT community. Today is a celebration as well as a reminder that there is still work to do.
First and foremost we need to repeal DOMA and guarantee same-sex partners the rights afforded all couples. But the fight for equal rights goes beyond marriage equality. As equal-marriage becomes law in more and more states, we need to look beyond legal equality and toward lived equality: from ending discrimination in the workplace to stopping the devastating effects of bullying in our schools.
I am running for Congress in the 4th District of Massachusetts because I believe this country was founded on a simple principle: that each of us deserves to be treated fairly by our government and our fellow citizens. If elected, I will make it a priority to be not just a voice but a leader in the fight for equality.
