You can help the folks in the migrant caravan

It is not illegal to seek asylum in the United States. Migrating is not illegal. Human beings are not "illegals."

But this month, Donald Trump stepped up his monstrous campaign against asylum-seekers, separating even more families and – against all basic human decency – attacking children with tear gas.

Please join me in supporting a group of organizations working overtime to protect and support those families.

Imagine how desperate you would have to be to leave your home, trek thousands of miles in blazing heat and appalling conditions, for the chance of being granted asylum in the U.S.

Now imagine what it would take to subject your children to that journey.

The Central American migrant caravan is made up of ordinary folks risking life and limb to escape terror, violence and take a chance on a better life in America. They're facing untold misery along the way. And now that they are reaching a militarized border, they are being treated like hostile invaders.

Manufacturing a crisis and demonizing our fellow human beings is unacceptable.

Separating children from their parents is an unspeakable cruelty.

Tear gassing families, children, and parents is a horrific human rights violation.

Turning away asylum-seekers at ports of entry is not just cruel, it's unlawful.

As a nation, we must do what we've always done. Show compassion. Offer humanitarian aid. Live up to the principles that make our country great.

Please chip in now to support the families that Donald Trump has attacked in our name.
